‘When you are getting ready to undertake a great adventure, the Ordinary World knows somehow and clings to you.’ writes Christopher Vogler in The Writer's Journey: Mythic Structure , a legendary textbook on the structure of a movie script. In order to navigate efficiently through various film realities, however, it is enough to know the classic theory of storytelling. During the lecture, we will discuss various methods of constructing short and full-length stories as well as the constructional elements of series that distinguish them from other forms of storytelling. We'll talk about creating emotionally believable character arcs, the importance of clearly drawing goals, discovering character needs, the importance of conflict, tension and stakes for the drama of a story, the essence of transformation and ways to create new, wonderful worlds. During the lecture, we will learn about the classic elements of the script structure and we will discuss the basic elements influencing the building of tension and constructing the dramaturgy of the film image.

The awarded projects get accreditations to international markets as MIFA, Animarkt, Quirino Awards among others, and also software and equipment awards. PANGUR ANIMATION is a stop motion animation studio, was created in 2015 and it has done services for well-known brands such as: Hasbro, Warner, SYFY, Nestle, Sesame Street, Nickelodeon, Twitter, Green Mountain Energy, Earth’s Own or Tongal, and a wide kids production in YouTube. We worked at the Netflix tv series ‘Guardians of Justice’ where we were on charge of the stop motion animation. It has produced several short films such as: ‘Feardom’ (2017, Pablo Muñoz), and ‘Idle’ (2018, Pablo Muñoz); ‘The Inner Life’ (2021, Pablo Muñoz and Vicente Mallols) and ‘Becarias’ (Interns, currently in postproduction Marina Donderis, Núria Poveda and Marina Cortón). Stopmotion can be a lengthy and hard process, as well as expensive in resources and time. But I think it doesn't have to be. If we, as creators and artisans, change our perspective in our creative process we can put together a project that is inexpensive, with a fast paced and efficient pipeline that is both effective and compelling for the audience. We can build a methodology focused in sustainability from the perspective of the resources (time and materials) and, maybe most importantly, the emotional health of the team involved. I´ll tell you of my humble experience in directing, producing and animating stopmotion projects through social turmoil, economic crisis and a pandemic, and the perspective gained in ZANDER which we applied in our webseries PAJARONES.

Each film is a result of the creative cooperation of many people, it is a co-authored work. The countless elements, often of a different nature, that each film consists of, make the acquisition of rights to the film, its exploitation and promotion often a huge financial and organizational challenge associated with a considerable legal risk. During the workshop, we will go step by step through the development process of an audiovisual project, from the idea to its execution, we will find a point where the protection begins and how to get it and strengthen it. We will try to name all the rights belonging to the creators and to describe the needs of each producer. We will discuss the possible compromise they must achieve to enable the safe and smooth realization of the project that will be the result of their joint efforts and talents.
